Company of Good

Company of Good - 2 Hearts: putting purpose into practice

The Company of Good Recognition System, led by the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC), recognises organisations in Singapore for their commitment to corporate purpose and their contributions across five dimensions: PeopleSocietyGovernanceEnvironment and Economic impact.

The framework has four progressive recognition levels - 1 Heart, 2 Hearts, 3 Hearts and Champion of Good - so it is designed to recognise both progress and maturity. Commonwealth Concepts was conferred Company of Good - 2 Hearts in the 2025 cohort, with the recognition badge covering 2025 to 2027.

What makes this recognition significant is its breadth. It is not limited to a single donation, volunteer activity or sustainability campaign. The system considers how purpose is reflected across the organisation and how positive impact is created for different stakeholders. NVPC also harmonises relevant government and global standards in its assessment, encouraging companies to connect individual initiatives to a more coherent purpose journey.

For Commonwealth Concepts, the 2 Hearts recognition affirms meaningful progress in building an organisation where business performance and positive impact can advance together. It also gives us a clear direction for continued growth: to deepen purpose across our decisions, partnerships and day-to-day operations.

bizSAFE

bizSAFE Level 3: managing workplace risks systematically

bizSAFE is a nationally recognised capability-building programme administered by Singapore's Workplace Safety and Health Council. At Level 3, an organisation must have conducted risk assessments for every work activity and process in its workplace in line with the Workplace Safety and Health (Risk Management) Regulations. It must also have the implementation of its risk-management plan assessed by a qualified external auditing organisation.

This is especially meaningful in food and beverage operations. Kitchens, restaurants, bakeries, production spaces and offices each present different risks - from hot surfaces, sharp tools and manual handling to slips, equipment use and emergency readiness. A strong safety culture depends on identifying those risks, putting controls in place, communicating them clearly and reviewing them when work changes.

bizSAFE Level 3 does not mean that risk disappears. It means that Commonwealth Concepts has established a structured and audited approach to managing it. That approach supports safer workplaces for our teams and, in turn, more dependable environments for the guests, suppliers and partners who interact with our operations.

Progressive Wage Mark

Progressive Wage Mark Plus: going beyond wage compliance

The Progressive Wage Mark was initiated by Singapore's tripartite partners - the Ministry of Manpower, National Trades Union Congress and Singapore National Employers Federation - and is administered by the Singapore Business Federation. It recognises eligible employers that meet the applicable Progressive Wage requirements for local workers and pay all other local workers at least the Local Qualifying Salary.

Progressive Wage Mark Plus is the higher of the scheme's two tiers. To receive it, an organisation must first qualify for the Progressive Wage Mark and then adopt the Tripartite Standard on Advancing Well-Being of Lower-Wage Workers. The standard extends the commitment beyond pay. Its practices cover training and career development, recognition of skills, support for learning, workplace safety and health, workplace health programmes, and access to proper and reasonable rest areas.

In the food-services sector, the Progressive Wage Model links wages with skills, training and clearer career pathways. That makes the Mark particularly relevant to a hospitality business: it recognises that sustainable progress should create opportunities for the people whose work powers daily operations.

For Commonwealth Concepts, the Plus tier signals a commitment not only to meeting required wage standards, but also to supporting lower-wage workers with the structures that help them learn, stay well and progress. It also reinforces the connection between our recognitions: the Tripartite Standard requires at least bizSAFE Level 2, while Commonwealth Concepts has attained bizSAFE Level 3.

Kindness@Work

Kindness@Work: making care visible in everyday culture

Kindness@Work is an initiative of the Singapore Kindness Movement designed to build more gracious and appreciative workplaces across Singapore. Unlike a technical compliance framework, its focus is the human experience of work: how people communicate, show respect, express appreciation, offer support and make colleagues feel that they belong.

Commonwealth Concepts received recognition from the Singapore Kindness Movement during our CWC Bowling Day 2026, where colleagues also celebrated our own Kindness Champions - team members who bring care and consideration to life through everyday actions.

That everyday emphasis matters. The Singapore Kindness Movement's 2025 Graciousness Survey reported that most employees felt that experiencing kindness at work improved their overall work experience, with the effect particularly evident among younger employees. In hospitality, where teamwork, pace and human interaction are constant, respectful communication and genuine appreciation can strengthen both the employee experience and the service culture guests encounter.

The recognition is therefore both a celebration and a responsibility. It reminds us that culture is created in small moments: how we welcome a new colleague, respond under pressure, acknowledge effort, give feedback and look out for one another.
